The precept for the coming year has increased slightly by 0.5% to £655,657.80. However, this does not mean residents will pay more.
This is because the number of properties contributing to council tax (the tax base) has increased for 2026–27. With more households sharing the cost, the amount charged to each property has reduced.
As a result, the charge for a Band D property will fall by £2.94, a reduction of 1.43% compared to last year.
