The Cloud Capp'd TowersMusic lovers in Swaffham are in for a special evening this August as the acclaimed Ralph Allwood Singers present The Cloud Capp’d Towers, a concert inspired by the beauty and heritage of Norfolk’s historic churches.

Taking place at St Peter and St Paul Church, Swaffham, on Friday 28 August at 6.30pm, the performance forms part of a unique week-long musical project that explores seven of Norfolk’s ancient and inspiring church buildings.

Renowned choral director Ralph Allwood will lead a choir made up of talented young singers drawn from prestigious ensembles including the Old Royal Naval College Trinity Laban Chapel Choir, The Royal College of Music, and the Rodolfus Choir.

Inspired by Prospero’s famous words from Shakespeare’s The Tempest, the programme will feature music by some of Britain’s most celebrated composers, including Charles Villiers Stanford, William Harris, Herbert Howells, and Ralph Vaughan Williams, alongside works by Anton Bruckner. Several pieces will be accompanied by organ, adding to the atmosphere of the historic setting.

The concert is being supported by the Norfolk Churches Trust and forms part of ongoing efforts to celebrate the county’s remarkable ecclesiastical heritage through music and culture.

Tickets are available for £12.50 in advance or £15 on the door, and can be purchased from Swaffham Museum.

Organisers are encouraging residents and visitors alike to attend what promises to be an uplifting evening of outstanding choral music in one of Norfolk’s most impressive parish churches.
