PRESS RELEASE: Twilight Market Cancelled Due to Extreme Heat Conditions

24 June 2026

After careful consideration and consultation with local authorities, Swaffham Town Council have made the difficult decision to cancel the Twilight Market scheduled for Friday 26 June 2026 due to forecast extreme heat conditions.
This decision has been made in agreement with Mayor, Cllr Eves, with the health, safety and wellbeing of market vendors, volunteers, performers and attendees remaining our highest priority.

Weather forecasts indicate temperatures are expected to reach levels that could pose significant health risks, particularly during prolonged outdoor activities.  While we understand many people were looking forward to the event, we believe cancelling the market is the most responsible course of action.

Mayor, Cllr Eves said:
“While we are disappointed to cancel the Twilight Market, the decision has been made in the best interests of public safety.  We thank the community for their understanding and support, and we look forward to welcoming everyone to future events when conditions are safer.””

Swaffham Town Council thanks all stallholders, volunteers and community members for their support and understanding.

Planned entertainment will be moved to a later Twilight Market.
