Deputy Town Clerk

Due to the pending promotion of the current post holder, there is a vacancy for a key member of the senior management team for a
DEPUTY TOWN CLERK
(37 hours per-week from 1 June 2023)
Starting salary depending on qualifications and experience
SCP 29 £35,411 – SCP 32 £38,296

Applicants should be able to take responsibility, working within a small team to strict deadlines, educated to a good standard, computer literate, well presented, with good inter-personal skills and pleasant telephone manner. To work within the senior management team, supporting the Town Clerk to guide and advise Councillors, and generally assist in service delivery to the town of Swaffham.

The successful candidate could have experience in local government or possess transferable skills and a willingness to undergo training – be familiar with report and minute writing, data collection, analysis, research and consultation methods, PAYE, computerised accounting, Word and Excel. Local government qualifications and experience an advantage, i.e., CiLCA/Local Policy/Community Governance, any experience as a Parish or Town Clerk, as a Deputy or an Assistant Clerk.

Project & Grants Officer

A vacancy for a PROJECTS and GRANTS OFFICER
(part-time 30 hours per-week – from 1 June 2023)
Starting salary depending on qualifications and experience
SCP 16 £26,357 – SCP 19 £27,852 (Pro-rata 30 hours = £21,370 – £22,582)

Applicants should be able to take responsibility, working within a small team to strict deadlines, educated to a good standard, computer literate, familiar with social media, well presented, with good inter-personal and organisational skills and a pleasant telephone manner. They should be capable of report writing, press releases, grant applications, data collection and analysis, research, and consultation methods. Experience of Project development, management, and delivery an advantage.

Trainee Ground Maintenance Operative

A vacancy for a TRAINEE to join our GROUNDS MAINTENANCE TEAM
(37 hours per-week – from 1 June 2023)
Starting salary depending on qualifications and experience
Starting salary at the national minimum wage, then SCP 5 £21,575 from 1 April 2025

Swaffham Town Council maintain and manage a number of play areas, open spaces and outside areas in the town and are looking for a trainee to join our outside team. Grounds Maintenance will form the bulk of the work including grass cutting and gardening.

The successful applicant will be trained on the job and off site; they will need to be flexible and adaptable, as the job will entail supporting other members of staff, taking on a variety of tasks, to support the Town Council in their service delivery and to assist with the delivery of community events as the need arises.
